Regrets...I've had a few

A while ago I decided to take the word verification function off my comment section of this blog.  I thought I would see how things went, spamwise.  But when I received the following comment,

Helloi (I) want to say that this article is amazing, nice (Adv. nicely) written and include (pl. includes) almost all significant info (?)  I would like to see more posts like this.
I thought, time to reinstate.  It wasn't just the spam that bothered me.  But, read this comment and then ask yourself if you would really want an online diploma from these folks?

  1. I haven't had any problems so far with not having word verification. I guess I've been lucky. All spam like that seems to go directly to the spam folder. It still comes across as a comment in my email, but on the blog it doesn't show up in the comments section, only in the spam folder, which I empty about once per week.

  2. Although it is true that I am never certain if I have included all(?) significant info. in my own posts, I do try to adverb nicely. :)

  3. Megan, you have been lucky, so was I really but lately there has been more and more spam getting through. I am thinking of trying the other option - comment moderation.

Charlotte, normally mistakes in posts or comments don't bother me, we all make them and that's all there is to it, but this was an online diploma offer - if they are going to spam, their spam should at least be grammatically correct in complete sentences - significant info about what?
Besides this rant was presented by the teacher in me.
And I always think you post nicely, Charlotte, so no worries there.

  4. Annoying for the blog owner to delete, but even MORE annoying for the commenter to deal with CAPTCHA. Hate it. I've had to delete a couple of comments, but I'd rather the inconvenience be mine rather than to pass it on to those that would sincerely like to comment. Just my 2 cents.

  5. I would rather take on the slight inconvenience of deleting comments than passing the inconvenience on to sincere commenters. I HATE captcha.
