I knew about the Mabel Esther Allan book A Strange Enchantment, but haven't gotten my hands on a copy yet. I did splurge once and bought a second hand copy of The Women's Land Army by Vita Sackville-West, which is not very exciting but is informative. She was quite the gardener, herself and wrote a lot on that also.

Another reason to love blogging - information sharing!Alexhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15988251415347075888noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3966330143385469554.post-25037864289784903922013-05-12T07:44:25.291-04:002013-05-12T07:44:25.291-04:00I love WW II gardening books! did you know that E...I love WW II gardening books! did you know that Elizabeth Enright's mother was an artist who created crazed vegetable pictures promoting Victory Gardens? http://charlotteslibrary.blogspot.com/2009/04/crazed-vegetables-elizabeth-enrights.html

I'll add this one to my list--thanks!Charlottehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11835101886202235868noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3966330143385469554.post-4845907785696336922013-05-10T08:30:58.654-04:002013-05-10T08:30:58.654-04:00WOW, that's great, Zohar. Good luck with it, and I hope you can all enjoy the frutits of your labors. It is funny how plants can survive without care and return year after year - good thing, too. My dad was a big gardener, but he mostly grew flowers. I would have also liked a vegetable/herb garden. I think that this book is important to teach children about a time and way of life that is not very familiar to them.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
